when did the double bladed sword come into being?
i am talking about a sword with two blades, one on top, one on bottom (like darth maul's lightsaber). i am doing a project where i need to find the origins of swords, so i need to know when it was invented, or the earliest record of one.
Never.
Simply, if it had a blade coming from opposing sides of the hilt it wouldn't be a sword.
Ive been a bladesmith (I hand forge blades for a living)I for a few years now And Ive never run across anything like what you describe when doing my research. I'll be the first to admit there is more out there than I know but this type of weapon seems to be the providence of fantasy writers and artist.
